Bulgur is made from previously cooked/ steamed, dried and broken durum wheat. This process creates a quick cooking grain dish with a mild, nutty flavour. When properly prepared it has a tender, fluffy texture not unlike couscous or rice. Half a cup of cooked bulgur contains approximately 4 grams of dietary fibre and minerals such as iron, magnesium and phosphorus.
A great alternative to rice, pasta and couscous. Adds whole-grain nutrition to salads, soups and side dishes.
Rinse and place 1 cup of bulgur in large saucepan. Stir 2 cups boiling water into bulgur and cook for 7-15 minutes or until all the water is absorbed.
