Millet is an ancient grain that has been cultivated for more than 12000 years ago. Native to Africa where it grows on scarce soil in dry areas. Most commonly used in Europe in form of millet mash.
Hulled millet naturally does not contain gluten, which makes him a great gluten-containing grain alternative. Millet is considered to be a grain that causes the smallest amount of allergies. Contains a high level of dietary fiber which has a positive impact on the digestive system and it is also an alkaline food, meaning that it may help to balance regular pH levels in the body.
Suggested use:
Soak for 8-24 hours before use. Boil in water-millet ratio 2,5 to 1.
Hulled millet can be prepared as porridge with dried fruit and nuts. Works very well in desserts such as muffins and granola bars. Can be used as a side dish or cooked in soups and stews.
