Kombu (Kelp), like all seaweed, is highly nutritious. Known for ability to collect and absorb nutrients from surrounding water.It provides high levels of iodine, which is essential for thyroid function, iron, calcium and vitamins A and C. It is also high in glutamic acid, the amino acid that produces the umami taste. Powder can also be used externally for skincare.
Recommended daily intake is quarter of a teaspoon. One to three times daily.
Mix 1 teaspoon of powder daily with yoghurt, smoothie or fruit juice. You can add it to salads or soups. Kelp can also be used as a substitute for salt.
