Parboiled long grain rice is great alternative when fast preparation time is required. It also provides delicious and nutritious meal. This type of rice is made by subjecting raw rice to a partial cooking process after the harvest. First the rice is soaked in water to raise its moisture content. Then it is steamed before final stage of cooling and drying. Described process gelatinizes the starch in rice and transfers many of the nutrients from the rice bran into the kernel's core (endosperm).
Cook rice in water in 2:1 ratio for approximately 15 minutes or until tender but still firm.
