Red lentils are edible seeds from the legume family. Known for its pale red colour and small round shape. Lentils are made up of over 25% protein, which makes them an excellent meat alternative. They are also a great source of iron, fibre and B vitamin. Having said that, it is quite easy to understand why lentils are essential ingredient in vegetarian diet.
Unlike other legumes, soaking before use is not required, making them suitable for fast meals.
Cook for up to 30 minutes or until tender.
Lentils can be sprouted easily. Add them to various dishes, soups and stews or even try them in salads and sandwiches.
