Although today widely used and popular in many parts of the world, paprika was first produced in Spain in the 16th century, after pepper explorers (Columbus) brought back pepper plants from the Americas.
Smoked pepper was first discovered by Spanish monks who, due to climatic conditions, began to dry it on the natural smoke of oak wood, which is responsible for its distinctive woody smoky taste.
Nutrigold smoked paprika is made by unique process of drying sweet paprika providing mildly-sweet flavour and distinctive deep red colour. Just a small amount is needed for smoked paprika to do its magic and refine various meals with smoky flavour profile.
It is also a great seasoning for vegetarian dishes in which it imitates smoked meat flavours.
