Watercress sprouts are known for their purifying properties and a very strong and spicy taste. Since watercress is a mucilaginous seed close attention to the growth of the sprouts is needed, especially in the first days of germination. The small cress seeds, when placed in water, immediately develop a gelatinous membrane. Seed should be moistened in the first days with water amount slightly increased the amount of water gradually with the absorption of the gelatin and the development of the buds.
The normal period in water is not necessary for the seeds of watercress. Seeds should be slightly moistened and immediately arranged on appropriate surface. Leave the seeds out of the light until the first leaves appear. Wet the seeds 1-2 times a day and only with the amount of water necessary to keep them moist at all times. The sprouts are ready in 5-6 days. They can be kept in the refrigerator for 1 week.
