White lentil is derived from peeled black lentils originally from India but is now grown worldwide. The lentil plant is of short and has beautiful white, light blue or purple flowers from which the beans develop.
In addition to white lenses, there are red, green, brown, black and yellow. White lentils - Urad Dal are from certified organic farming and contain a very low content of saturated fatty acids and sugars in terms of carbohydrates.
Unlike other legumes, it can be prepared the same day it is served because it does not need to be soaked the day before. It is recommended for vegetarian and vegan diets as an excellent substitute for red meat.
Nutrigold white lentils make an excellent source of plant proteins, and are enriched with a subtle nutty taste. Due to the short preparation time, it is an excellent choice for a salad, and goes well with a variety of cheeses and cured meats.
A great choice for hearty, but quick cooking soups. Can be mixed with bread crumbs, minced onion and garlic to stuff roasted peppers or eggplant or eaten in curries and stews. Mild, earthy flavor and soft texture when cooked.
Rinse thoroughly before use. Simmer 1 cup of White Lentils with 4 cups of water for 12 to 25 minutes, depending upon the desired texture. Skim the water while cooking. Drain when finished and season with salt.
