White Peppercorns come from the plant, Piper nigrum, that is mostly grown in the countries of Southeast Asia and India. It is considered one of the oldest spices and was used as a means of exchanging goods in the Roman Empire.
Depending on the time of grain harvesting and the processing process, it exists in different colors, such as:
Nutrigold white pepper is obtained by picking ripe, red berries followed by the grain drying process. This process of picking and processing is responsible for its characteristic white color and gentler aroma than that of black pepper.
White pepper can be used in grain or it can be ground just before adding a dish. It best complements fish specialties and is great with chicken dishes.
Ready to use as is or grind. Add to taste. Pepper loses its flavor when cooked for long periods of time, so add close to the end of cooking time.
Perfect to use in light colored dishes like fish or poultry, white gravies, cream sauces, potato dishes and salad dressings.
