Cocoa beans are fruit of Cocoa tree (Theobroma cacao). Native to South America. Criollo variety which is considered to be the best amongst them all and known as ''Cocoa Queen''.
Cocoa tree contains large fruits with 20 to 60 cocoa beans in each pod. After harvesting, beans are subjected to natural fermentation and drying process. After drying, beans are roasted for delicate and delicious chocolate flavour.
They are crunchy, slightly bitter and delicious.
Recommended daily intake is 2 to 3 teaspoons daily.
You can eat the whole cocoa beans on their own, make homemade chocolate or combine with almost everything.
